Your Lease Admin Database Is Only as Good as The Data Itself
I've seen seven-figure lease admin software implementations fail because everyone rushed to just dump the old data into the new system.
Retailers get excited about the platform. The dashboards look great in the demo. The reporting is slick. Then six months in, the numbers don't match reality because the data transfer was rushed, inconsistent, or done by someone who didn't understand commercial leases.
A database is a structure. It's not intelligence. If your critical dates are wrong, if your CAM caps are miscoded, if your co-tenancy triggers aren't captured correctly, the system will confidently report bad information right alongside the good.
The retailers who get real value out of these systems treat data quality as a discipline, not a one-time project. They audit their own abstractions and not just once. They have a process for catching drift when amendments come in. They don't assume that because something is in the database, it's correct.
Before you shop for your next lease admin platform, ask a harder question first: who is validating what goes into it, and how often? The software vendors won't bring this up in the sales pitch. It's not their job to. It's yours.
A clean, boring, well-governed spreadsheet beats a beautiful platform full of bad data every time.
